Fivepenny Piece have a rich television history, which
started with their appearance on Granada’s New Faces
in 1968. Since that time they have appeared on many
many UK shows, and so we thought we’d dig up a list to see
just where we might have seen them in the 1970s and early
1980s.
NEW FACES Granada Television 1968 - exact date unknown, possibly September 1968 Five minute showcase slot for acts local to the Granada region. The Wednesday Folk make their television debut. (The series had recently changed its name to New Faces, having previously been called First Timers and has no connection to the later 1970s ATV series of the same name). The Wednesday Folk won their category with a rendition of 'Hang The Flag Out Mrs. Jones' which would later become their second single release.
