AN EVENING WITH THE FIVEPENNY PIECE

Label: Philips 6382 154

Release Date: September 1980

Running Time:  48 minutes

The group's second album for Philips turned out to be their third live album and the final album on a major label.  Recorded at the Oldham Coliseum, six tracks of the fifteen strong album were from the pen of Bernard Wrigley and Dave Dutton.   Including the only track Wrigley and Dutton wrote specifically for the Fivepenny Piece, 'Give Us A Smile George',  an attempt to raise a grin from lugubrious bass player George Radcliffe.  There were some fine folk moments too, not least Ralph McTell's 'Streets Of London' and 'Seth Davey' with its memorable "Whisky on a Sunday" chorus.

Producer:  CHRIS HARDING

Pianist:  Pete Lingwood

Drummer:  Phil Barlow

A limited edition CD-R of the album was released through the official website and can be purchased HERE
