The tenth -
and final - album for EMI saw a new approach.
Instead of the regional lanky flavour of previous records,
this is an all out assault on easy listening pop. Producer
Keith Rossiter and arranger Don Gould craft a sophisticated
album of extremely listenable songs (with under half provided by
John Meeks and his collaborators) which once again showcase just
what superb performers Fivepenny Piece were. Perhaps it
was EMI's last attempt at getting a hit single for the group who
had conquered everywhere except the singles market.
Perhaps the inclusion of the childrens song 'Willie Pollard' is
the only jarring note on the most polished of all the Fivepenny
Piece albums. The single chosen from the album, 'I'll Be
Still In Love With You', again met with indifference from
singles buyers but there are a number of tracks which could have
been contenders. A superb leaving gift to EMI.
